Memphian Lucy Pai was selected to serve as a 2025 Youth Ambassador for Honeycomb, a nationwide Jewish teen philanthropy program. Lucy is a sophomore at St. Mary’s Episcopal School in Memphis and has participated in the Jewish Foundation of Memphis B’nai Tzedek teen philanthropy program since eighth grade.

In addition to volunteering with B’nai Tzedek, Lucy is a Student Ambassador at St. Mary’s, where she leads tours for prospective students. She is also a committed athlete and has been a proud member of her school’s cross country and track teams since middle school.

Carolyn Schrier, B’nai Tzedek Coordinator, nominated Lucy for Honeycomb’s 2025 Youth Ambassador Council, saying, “Lucy has been an enthusiastic and dedicated member of B’nai Tzedek, and I know she will be a stellar Youth Ambassador who will represent Memphis well.”

B’nai Tzedek is the premier teen philanthropy program in Memphis. Founded in 2002, the program has touched hundreds of participants and has granted thousands of dollars over its 22-year history.

Eligible teens are those who, at the time of their bar/bat mitzvah, choose to donate a portion of their gift money to start their own charitable fund. Over the course of high school, the students learn about tzedakah and can make annual grants from their funds to qualified charities. In addition, teens also participate in a group grants process and receive proposals, evaluate the charities, and make grants to local Jewish organizations.

Sheri Gadberry, Senior Philanthropic Officer and Executive Vice President with Jewish Community Partners, said of the nomination, “I am thrilled to see Lucy share her giving spirit and her knowledge of charitable giving with other teen philanthropists. She is an amazing young leader.”
